NYSAFLT 105th Annual Conference
October 21–22, 2022 in Rochester, NY
Chair, Marissa Coulehan, Dobbs Ferry Schools
The proposal submission period is now over for the 2022 Annual Conference. Please consider a session for next year’s conference. Or, write an article for the Journal!
With the recent adoption of updated standards for our field, we are looking forward to the 2022 NYSAFLT Annual Conference, Reflecting, Regrouping, Realigning with the World Language Standards, to be held October 21–22, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency and Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY.
As we continue the important work of implementing our new NYS Standards for World Languages, we will reflect on the past few chaotic years in education, regroup by centering proficiency, culture, and equity in our classrooms, and realign our curricula to ensure that we are providing the best educational experience possible for our language learners. As always, our vision is to bring together all those involved in the teaching and promotion of world languages, including researchers and educators at every level, across New York State.
The program will include three-hour pre-conference workshops for in-depth learning, as well as a wide variety of one-hour sessions over the course of the conference. We welcome all proposals – those with a connection to our theme, as well as those that address topics of general interest in the field. Please direct all questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. The 2022 conference will be on-site only and there will not be a virtual component.
Time Slot Options:
Presenters may not request a specific time slot. Please understand that, when scheduling up to 75 different sessions and events, it is not possible to honor special requests. Workshops and sessions will be scheduled as follows – please ensure your availability to present if your proposal is selected.
Friday morning we will offer three-hour pre-conference workshops. During these workshops, presenters can allow more time for interaction and offer more in-depth treatment of high-interest, current issues in world language education. Up to two co-presenters may be listed for a pre-conference workshop. Registration fees for presenters selected to present a three-hour pre-conference workshop will be waived.
Sessions are one hour in length and may or may not be specifically aligned to the conference theme. Up to four co-presenters may be listed, including the main presenter/contact. Registration fees for presenters of sessions are not waived and all presenters/co-presenters must register for the conference.
For-profit individuals and entities, vendors, and service providers renting space in the exhibit hall may submit one session proposal per booth rented (pre-conference workshops excluded). Proposals received after the deadline are subject to availability. (See detailed policy linked above.) Please visit our exhibitor page for more information about registering to exhibit.
All proposals are due by April 29. Our conference planning committee will meet mid-May to review proposals and presenters will be notified early summer, once our schedule has been finalized.
All presenters are required to register for the conference. With the exception of pre-conference workshop presenters, standard registration rates apply. You do not need to be a member to submit a proposal, but you must be a member at the time of registration.
