Thank you so much for considering submitting a proposal to present at the 2020 NYSAFLT Annual Conference Looking to the Future: Recruitment, Leadership and Advocacy   for World Languages, to be held October 23-24, 2020 at the Holiday Inn Syracuse, NY. Our aim is to bring together all those involved in the teaching and promotion of world languages, including researchers and educators at every level of education, across New York State.

Our program will include in-depth three-hour pre-conference workshops and a wide variety of sessions. We welcome all proposals – those with a connection to our theme as well as those that address topics of general interest in the field. Please direct all questions to info@nysaflt.org.

IF YOU ARE A VENDOR OR SERVICE PROVIDER: please submit your proposal via the same link below. For-profit individuals and entities must submit as an exhibitor/vendor and must be registered as an exhibitor for the conference. Regular session and workshop presenters must be practitioners from the field and presentations must be non-commercial in nature.

Time Slot Options:

Presenters may not request a specific time slot. Please understand that, when scheduling up to 75 different sessions and events, it is not possible to honor special requests. Workshops and sessions will be scheduled as follows – please ensure your availability to present if your proposal is selected.

Friday morning, October 23:    Three-hour pre-conference workshops

Friday afternoon, October 23:    One-hour sessions (A, B and C)

Saturday, October 24:              One-hour sessions (D, E, F, and G)

Pre-conference Workshops 

Friday morning we will feature more in-depth, three-hour pre-conference workshops. During these workshops, presenters can allow more time for interaction and offer more in-depth treatment of high-interest current issues in world language education. Up to two co-presenters may be listed for a pre-conference workshop. Registration fees for presenters selected to present a three-hour pre-conference workshop will be waived.

Sessions

Sessions are one hour in length and may or may not be specifically aligned to the conference theme. Up to five co-presenters may be listed, including the main presenter/contact. Registration fees for presenters of sessions are not waived and all presenters/co-presenters must register for the conference.

Exhibitor Sessions

Vendors and service providers renting space in the exhibit hall may submit one session proposal per booth rented. Proposals received after the deadline are subject to availability. Pre-conference workshops are not open to vendors or service providers. (See detailed policy here.)

Timeline

All proposals are due March 6. Our conference planning committee will meet to review proposals and presenters will be notified before the end of April.

Registration

All presenters are required to register for the conference. With the exception of pre-conference workshop presenters, standard registration rates apply. You do not need to be a member to submit a proposal, but you must be a member at the time of registration.
