Authentic Materials Myths – Applying Second Language Research to Classroom Teaching

This book study is offered exclusively to NYSAFLT members!

How do you use authentic materials in instruction? What reservations do you have? How do you respond to colleagues who are hesitant to embed authentic resources in their instruction? Join your NYSAFLT colleagues from around the state for an in-depth book study of Authentic Materials Myths – Applying Second Language Research to Classroom Teaching, authors: Eve Zyzik and Charlene Polio, copyright 2017. There will be nine, one-hour meetings over the course of the school year. Meetings will be facilitated by NYSAFLT and NYSED team members, however, participants will work with a facilitator to lead an activity during one of the meetings. The e-book version will be provided at no cost. There will be a $10 fee for participants requesting a hard copy. Up to 18 hours of CTLE credit will be awarded from OBEWL-NYSED after the last meeting in May. Participants must attend at least eight of the meetings to receive CTLE credit.
