Registration for the Annual Conference is open. You can register now, and select your pre-conference workshop choices when they become available. This year there is no paper registration form. Use our online form to:

  • pay by credit card
  • upload a PO
  • Register and pay by check (must be received within one week of online registration)

There are TWO types of scholarships available:

Option # 1: NYSAFLT-funded Annual Conference Scholarships (4 full scholarships)

For teachers who have not attended any of the past three Annual Conferences (2015–2017)There are 4 scholarships given annually, divided between 2 categories: Teachers who have been teaching 3 years or less, and teachers who have been teaching more than three years. Each scholarship covers conference registration and will be awarded to world language teachers at any grade level from elementary to post-secondary who are members of NYSAFLT, have full-time world language teaching responsibilities. Winners are expected to attend the entire Annual Conference from Friday through Saturday. Click here to apply for a NYSAFLT scholarship now! (CLOSED)

Option # 2: The Mentor Scholarship Program (10 scholarships and 10 stipends)

The Language RBERN at NYU funds ten new-teacher scholarships and ten  stipends for experienced-teachers. The ten new teachers are paired with a mentor to help guide them through their first conference experience! Click here for complete details and to apply! (SCHOLARSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE)

Submit a Proposal

Do you have great ideas to share with your colleagues? Consider presenting at the 101st NYSAFLT Annual Conference! Workshop and session proposals relating to the conference theme and/or to topics of general interest to the profession are welcome. If you have any questions about submitting a proposal, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Our deadline has passed, however sessions and exhibitor sessions are still being accepted on a space available basis.

Car: If driving, set your GPS to Rochester Riverside Hotel, E. Main Street, Rochester, NY

Amtrak: There are three trains per day from New York Penn Station to Rochester, NY. From the Rochester station, take a cab to the hotel.

Bus: If traveling by bus (MegaBus or Greyhound), make arrangements to downtown Rochester.

Air: There are several non-stop flights daily from NYC to the Rochester. We recommend Uber/Lyft or a cab to get to the hotel.

Noah Geisel, Keynote Speaker

2013 National Language Teacher of the Year

Noah Geisel is a world languages, EdTech and digital badges consultant, and speaker who is passionate about helping educators and students make awesome happen. He has 15 years of experience teaching high school Spanish, English and technology and was recognized as the 2013 ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year. He is a constant on Twitter and Medium and was a contributing writer to the education blog He is a learner, sharer, traveler, and giver of high fives. He is also Education Director at Noah is a hardcore fan of Duke basketball, makes his own buttons and collects ViewMasters.
